While our support for local communities includes sustainable practices, and local food sourcing, it does not end there. We support a number of local charities, both through cash donations and contributions of food items. We also believe it’s important to reach out to the world. So, for several years, we have been sponsoring underprivileged children in other countries, helping them to obtain healthy food, safe drinking water and educations to provide for their futures.
WISH works to improve the health, safety and well-being of women who are involved in Vancouver’s street-based sex trade. WISH operates a drop in centre in the downtown eastside and offers services such as supportive employment programs, aboriginal health & safety, transitions, a learning centre, music therapy, and a health clinic.
World Vision's child sponsorship program empowers children, their
families and communities to help break the cycle of poverty. The
children supported receive education, safe water, nutritious food, and healthcare. World Vision also works to provide economic empowerment, child protection, and community leadership.
Lighthouse Coffee Roasters works to bring exceptional direct trade coffee from Myanmar to Canada. The coffee farmers are paid a fair wage and all profits are re-invested into their community. It’s ethically sourced coffee that creates community development opportunities. That's why it's called "more than fair trade".
